Announcements & Coming Events

Thursdays ~ 7:00a.m. The Men’s Breakfast Bible Study is up and running! The men meet every Thursday morning at 7:00 a.m. to study the Book of Acts and enjoy breakfast cooked by Pastor Patrick. While the breakfast is provided for the group, donations to help defray the cost is both welcomed and encouraged.

Fridays ~ 11:30a.m. The Women’s Lunch Bible Study meets every Friday morning at 11:30a.m. The Lunch Bible Study is also studying the Book of Acts. We ask if you plan on attending to bring your own lunch.

UNION GOSPEL MISSION~ MEAL…This is just a reminder that we are still doing meals for the Union Gospel Mission and the list of who is scheduled is on the church’s website under “Who’s doing What?” then “Union Gospel Mission”.  I still call people with reminders the week before the Tuesday we are scheduled.

With the COVID-19 situation, they are having to do meals a little different, so I call them each month to check on the time the food is needed.  They have been preparing boxed or bagged dinners to hand out to their clients. Because of that, they need the foods earlier in the day.  Since the time can change, I will let you know when I call with the reminder what time your part of the meal is needed. Thank you! Family Promise….will once again be having a quilt raffle to help raise money. Tickets will be $2.00 per ticket, and can be purchased at the church in the office on Wednesday and Friday’s, or by Linda Anderson. Drawing for the Quilt will be held December 11.

***Operation Shoebox…Yes, it’s that time of year again! October will begin our Shoebox Project. Boxes are now available in the fellowship hall, along with the do and don’ts of filling a box. You can also fill a boxe(s) on line at for the cost of $25. If you are unable to fill a box, each box will cost $9 to ship, so you can help that was as well. Deadline for turning in your box is November 15.

*** Family Promise is back up and running, albeit with a different look. There are many ways that you can volunteer to help with this important ministry. Details can be found in the October newsletter.

***Wednesday Night Family Fellowship continues OCT 21 at 1800 (or 6:00p).  Adult Study – Dallas Willard, Living in Christ’s Presence will be led by Peggy Gillespie and Diana Hill.

Youth Fellowship – Max Lucado’s No Wonder They Call Him The Savior. Led by REVPAT.

Younger Children’s Ministry will be led by Lori Minzey.

***Congregational Life…..Following worship on October 25th we will be having a pie social because the Harvest Dinner is not feasible in this age of Covid 19.  We will be having pumpkin, apple, marion berry, lemon meringue, pecan, and chocolate pecan (a Texas specialty made by Patrick) pies; a gluten free option will also be available.  For those who are uncomfortable staying, you may take a piece of pie home.  Hand hygiene, masks (when not eating), and social distancing will be in place.

***The monthly newsletter can be found here on the Monte Pres Website. Click the link on the far left of the main page, under the tool bar. If you need a hard copy mailed to you, not a problem, just let Susan know.

***Monte Pres will be hosting a HARVEST PARTY on Saturday, October 31. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 5:00p.
