Mid Week Devo
“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God the Father encourage you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16
Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me alone to do all the work? Luke 11:40…Martha lived a clutter life. I have a clutter desk. I have a cluttered mind. She needed a break, well I need a break! She was worried and upset about many things. I too am worried about many things. I am worried about my kids education, I am worried about the older members of our congregation, I am worried about my parents and I am worried about our country. Sheesh! Somethings gonna give!
“Patrick, Patrick, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is important and Mary chose [it]” Luke 11:41.
Mary chose to sit at the foot of Jesus and listen to the gospel of grace and love. She sat at the foot of the Lord and was blessed by His presence. She sat at the foot of Jesus and allowed the Lord God Almighty to smile upon her and gaze at her love for him, and in turn receive his love for her. What an amazing opportunity it is to sit at the foot of Jesus.
Max Lucado says, “God is more pleased with the quiet attention of a sincere servant than the noisy service of a sour one.”
I am still worried. But what matters more than my worry is my love for Christ, may gratitude for his blessings, the grace offered to those I love and the hope that I express and share in everything I do. A bad attitude spoils the gift that God offers in each new day. Problems will come and go, as will the good and the bad, and Jesus will always be there for you and for me. the sign behind my desk says, “it is what it is” and Jesus is [it]. Jesus take my worry and replace it with peace, amen.
Therefore, rejoice in the Lord always, again I say rejoice. <><
